Director.

Bringing people together to experience the impact of live theatre is one of the true thrills of being a stage director. Also, you get so many office supplies. I love office supplies.

I’ve directed two productions at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in collaboration with Northwestern University and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland—both of which received several five-star reviews. But it was the joy of seeing these two stories of human connection reach out and touch an audience that made it all worth it. And also the free Sharpie highlighter.

Legacy: The Book of Names

Written by Jon Bauerfeld and Casey Kendall, Legacy: The Book of Names is a musical that follows a day in the life of Ellis Island. Dreams are made. Hearts are broken. Familes are reunited. And some say goodbye forever. It’s a tapestry of immigration that resonates today, reminding us that the past is never really that far away.

Limbo: The Twelve

Also written by Kendall and Bauerfeld, Limbo: The Twelve takes place somewhere between here and the afterlife, where a young addict is judged by a jury of her peers—all for a second chance at life. Gripping, haunting, funny, and heartbreaking, this show explores the extremes of the human experience and asks what a single life is truly worth.
